Back To School
With the start of school, many parents and kids feel the stress and worry about the upcoming year. A new school year means a new classroom, new set of classmates and a new teacher. This can create anxiety and worry for kids, which can manifest in many different ways. Kids often experience anxiety as stomach aches, nausea, headaches, or shyness/isolation. Adults experience anxiety and worry a little differently including excessive worry, panic, nausea, headaches and sometimes energy boosts. While it sounds that kids and adults experience anxiety in the same way, it often is expressed verbally in different ways. Kids have a difficult time recognizing anxiety and often act out in other ways. With the start of the new school year, take some time to assess your family situation and address any issues that may come up. This time of the year can be anxiety producing with all the "new" things going on, and a quick check in may just help. If it appears that the issue may be a larger, continuous problem, seeking help from a professional is always recommended. We hope that the transition into the new school year is a positive one and we wish the best for the all for the upcoming academic calendar!
