Managing Moods
We all have times where we feel that maybe our mood isn't in the best condition. This could mean you feel sad, depressed, angry, anxious, nervous, etc. This does not mean that you are an abnormal human being. This means that you ARE HUMAN. We all experience fluctuations in our moods from time to time, but when these fluctuations start impacting relationships, work, and/or school, then it starts to step into the zone of unhealthy behavior. Here are some tips to help: First, be able to recognize moods and changes in them. If you are not able to identify the problem then it will be very difficult to change it. Second, assess whether this mood is negatively affecting your life. Third, seek help if moods are affecting your daily life. Most professionals will be able to help with coping skills and techniques and make referrals for medications if needed. If moods are non-permanent and not causing any significant changes to daily life then most likely it is within the normal range. When in doubt, consult with a professional.
